Little Changes

Hey everyone, it was a slow cold day here in Munich so I took advantage of the time inside and messed with the design of the site a bit. Its something ive been wanting to do for a long time now but never made the time to actually finnish up. I like what I ended up with I think. I wanted something a bit darker after looking at that light grey for a year now. I may shrink the header just a bit to match the content width but I’m not sure yet. I kind of like it big. My reason for writing this post is to give a place for comments or suggestions or any oversights I may have missed. Reader feedback helps keep the blog going so please, let me know what you all think.

Also, in other news, I am working on a new web project that I hope to announce soon. I am working on getting some initial content in place and making decisions on how I will organize it and I am getting closer to being able to open it up to the public for feedback. Im pretty excited about it because its something I have wanted to try for a long while now. Its a music blog for my favorite kind of music, calm music. Modeled after an old website that I used to reference for new music a long while back.

Also, something I would like to do is something someone requested a while back that I never had the chance to write and thats a write up on how I approach shooting with my film cameras. Specifically my current favorite, my little Olympus XA. So thanks for reading and stay tuned for more desktops, music, and more. -John

UPDATE: So with the help of a friend I added a little bit of a shadow at the top of the site that everything fades into as you scroll up! I think its pretty neat and thought I would add that to my notes here to see if anyone else thinks its nice looking too..

After One’s Own Heart

Heres a shot I thought would make an interesting desktop image. Shot through a shop window in downtown Munich, I’m pretty sure it was a pharmacy. I’m not sure what to say about it really, I just like how bold the image is and when its up on a nice big display I’m sure it would make for an striking center point for anyones computer…

Any use of these images for any purpose other than this is a violation of these terms and anyone found using said images will be asked to either compensate the creator for doing so or be asked to stop using them immediately.

These rules also apply for any artwork or imagery submitted and shown within this site which was created by an artist aside from myself. Any images submitted and shared as wallpapers are the property of the artist who created them and in the same manner as my images, you are asked to receive permission before using them in any way aside from their intended use. Any use of these images outside of for your own personal use as a desktop wallpaper image is prohibited without permission from the author of the image. Commercial licensing is available upon request. Please write with any inquiries.

When sharing images via your personal blogs I kindly ask that you link back directly to either the post the image was taken from or the base of the website at www.fiftyfootshadows.net and give a credit to www.fiftyfootshadows.net. Do not re-post full resolution desktop images anywhere without permission. if you would like to use an image for your blog background or something of the sort simply write to ask first. Support the artwork you admire! Also, it is greatly appreciated if you do NOT link directly to the zip files. This is more or less the same as re-posting them as it circumvents the tiny bit of support I ask of you which is to simply link back to the original post for others to enjoy the site.

It’s not fair to artists if you do not credit their work and link back to the original content creator. It is theft plain and simple and blogs that attempt to somehow be mysterious by not giving credit to the creators are simply hurting the artistic community as a whole. If you love it so much then please, support it! The artistic comunity on the Internet is based on trust. Without trust then what do we have? are you going to be one of the responsible users out there or will you be among the bottom feeders, stealing content and passing it off as your own to make a quick buck in ad sales. Use your best judgement and we will get along just fine.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
