50FT iPad Starter Pack

ipadpackk.o5gS7D31BMcx.jpg
I know that some readers will be waking up in the morning and heading out to grab themselves a new iPad and so I wanted to jump in and offer you a somewhat random selection of 50ft wallpapers in ipad wallpaper resolution. It was tricky figuring out what that would be and sort of changes a lot in terms of how I would frame a shot for use as a desktop because the orientation changes depending on how you hold it so if i frame a subject to the far right or left it will be automatically cropped by the device! So until I have one in my hands to play with the only thing I can offer is this pack of images cropped at the current going size for iPad wallpapers which is a square resolution. Keep an eye on this space as time goes on and as I figure out the best way to handle this new approach to thinking about wallpaper imagery. Until then, enjoy the selection I have pulled together here :) CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD the zip file with all 15 images.

Update: Also, for anyone needing direct access to these images simply visit this post which contains direct links for all visitors needing to grab them straight from their iPad.

Oops! I’ll fix it when I get back to my computer, thanks for pointing that out!

  3. john - April 2, 2010 at 6:42 am

Should work now, I think I managed to fix it on my phone. :)

I’ve been going back and forth on whether I want to jump right in and get an iPad right away, and was leaning more to the “wait and see” side, but I got REALLY excited and started thinking about picking one up now when I saw this post. No matter when I get one, your photos will DEFINITELY be my wallpaper. Right now I have them all randomly rotating every 30 minutes on my iMac and MacBook, and use them as my screensaver, too.

WOO! I’m not getting an iPad till the 2nd or 3rd generation but this is a great collection. I’ve used almost every one of these as wallpaper int he past. You should do a collection of these at their original resolutions too!

  6. john - April 2, 2010 at 10:03 pm

Thanks guys, yeah it makes me a little nervous releasing wallpapers for a device I have not even seen and the idea of this auto cropping as you rotate the device certainly has me scratching my head at how to compose photos to work well for an ipad wallpaper so the key element in the image doesnt get cropped off when rotated but its still fun none the less :)

I was on the fence about the iPad at first but I have all but decided to pick one up when I find the money for one After finally seeing some of the fully realized applications my suspicions came to be true as I saw the device becoming a really fascinating computing tool for music, casual computing, and keeping track of my digital life on the go.

Certain things people keep begging for seem ok to me in some ways but things like a camera which I could not imagine using on a device like that holding it up to my face like a mirror to talk to someone via video chat, or multitasking which I have no doubt will make its way to the device within the year. Hm, anyways, trust me, when I do get my hands on one in the coming months I’m sure I will chime in with my opinion on using it. Ive been wondering if I should start posting tech commentary or more again. It was fun when I used to long ago… ;)

Support the artwork you admire! Also, it is greatly appreciated if you do NOT link directly to the zip files. This is more or less the same as re-posting them as it circumvents the tiny bit of support I ask of you which is to simply link back to the original post for others to enjoy the site.

It’s not fair to artists if you do not credit their work and link back to the original content creator. It is theft plain and simple and blogs that attempt to somehow be mysterious by not giving credit to the creators are simply hurting the artistic community as a whole. If you love it so much then please, support it! The artistic community on the Internet is based on trust. Without trust then what do we have? are you going to be one of the responsible users out there or will you be among the bottom feeders, stealing content and passing it off as your own to make a quick buck in ad sales.

Use your best judgement and we will get along just fine.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
