picnic story

Typewriter Picnic

I have been out shooting a lot in the past week and it’s been a lot of fun looking for things to photograph. A few rolls of film and memory card dumps later I have a number of things to share here and on flickr. The shots here I took while out with my brother, I decided to bring along this typewriter a friend gave to me as a prop to shoot outside somewhere and we found a couple of great picnic tables in a park lit with the beautiful light of the afternoon sun. I could not have asked for nicer colors, the orange, greens, and browns seem to melt together and I am excited to share something so vibrant with everyone in these cold winter months.

I had a tough time deciding which images to share here but I feel like this is a pretty solid little pack of wallpapers. Because of the way I composed them while shooting there are a couple that didn’t quite work as well as iPad or iPhone wallpapers but I did my best and am offering them to you anyway.

Wow, your work is beautiful! Thanks for sharing. The only thing is, the desktop versions are sized 2500×1600, but I believe the correct size is 2560×1600. Keep up the great work!

sommelier, haha, I have been doing this for years now it seems and thats the first time I have cropped them wrong like that, must have been a typo that i didn’t notice while cropping the images down from the originals. oops! I will add that 60px back in there tonight and re-upload the file so if you are interested in having them proper check back tomorrow ;) thanks for pointing that out!

Oh lordy, what a beautiful set of wallpapers – again.

  9. David - February 3, 2011 at 12:39 am

Hey, I love the photos and I have been using a lot of the pictures for my desktop! They are so awesome. I just had a question: Is the photographer a man or a woman? I’ve seen a girl in many of the photos so I was wondering if that was the photographer.

  10. Brittany - February 3, 2011 at 3:37 am

These are great! I love the fun colors.

However, I just thought I’d let you know that the last two iPhone direct access links bring up the same photo; the “only you” iPhone wallpaper is missing.

    Keep shooting.

  11. john - February 3, 2011 at 3:57 am

Thanks for pointing that out Brittany, I fixed it right up! I must have been tired or something when posting this time around heh, this and the 60px off desktop images which I will fix up soon. Gotta be more delicate when dealing with links in the future :)

What gorgeous photos. One look at my personal sites and you’d know that I have a thing for orange. I also have a small collection of antique typewriters. So, basically, this is like catnip to me. :)

Putting these on my iPad and iPhone right now.

what type of typewriter is this?

  16. John carey - April 28, 2011 at 12:10 am

It’s a pretty random Sears brand Chevron typewriter that was given to me by a friend. I’m not sure that I am able to get ribbons for it or not.
