Little Changes

Hey everyone, it was a slow cold day here in Munich so I took advantage of the time inside and messed with the design of the site a bit. Its something ive been wanting to do for a long time now but never made the time to actually finnish up. I like what I ended up with I think. I wanted something a bit darker after looking at that light grey for a year now. I may shrink the header just a bit to match the content width but I’m not sure yet. I kind of like it big. My reason for writing this post is to give a place for comments or suggestions or any oversights I may have missed. Reader feedback helps keep the blog going so please, let me know what you all think.

Also, in other news, I am working on a new web project that I hope to announce soon. I am working on getting some initial content in place and making decisions on how I will organize it and I am getting closer to being able to open it up to the public for feedback. Im pretty excited about it because its something I have wanted to try for a long while now. Its a music blog for my favorite kind of music, calm music. Modeled after an old website that I used to reference for new music a long while back.

Also, something I would like to do is something someone requested a while back that I never had the chance to write and thats a write up on how I approach shooting with my film cameras. Specifically my current favorite, my little Olympus XA. So thanks for reading and stay tuned for more desktops, music, and more. -John

UPDATE: So with the help of a friend I added a little bit of a shadow at the top of the site that everything fades into as you scroll up! I think its pretty neat and thought I would add that to my notes here to see if anyone else thinks its nice looking too..

Shot at Solln station in Munich on a grey afternoon but thanks to some white balance fun on the 5D I have a nice warm image to share of something not particularly warm.

A nice green desktop for everyone. While walking through a grocery in Munich shooting from the hip I got this fresh looking image and thought it would be a great one to share here.

After One’s Own Heart

Heres a shot I thought would make an interesting desktop image. Shot through a shop window in downtown Munich, I’m pretty sure it was a pharmacy. I’m not sure what to say about it really, I just like how bold the image is and when its up on a nice big display I’m sure it would make for an striking center point for anyones computer…

Window Shopping

One of my favorite things to do when visiting new places is wander unknown streets without a plan or any real sense of direction and thats just what I was doing when I came across this random, delicate looking structure in a flower bed outside of a random clothing shop. The subtle light of night and the black and white tones add a lot to the image I think and because of its simplicity I thought it would make for a great desktop image.

I shot this casually from the hip in a subway here in Munich and thought I would make it into a desktop because I thought it was a nice dark texture that would make for a nice wallpaper.

Please respect the terms of use which can be found in the zip file with the desktop and you can download that by CLICKING OR RIGHT CLICKING HERE to download the attached file. Enjoy!

hmm… I always like coming across things like this while out walking around.

Anyone who has been to munich surely knows this wall. The bright orange curving walls of Marienplatz, the central subway station in the city. Late one night the foot traffic was light enough to get a shot of this corner which stood out in my mind as a great, simple desktop image. I can’t remember ever posting something so orange before. I know the second image is not quite symmetrical but I still like it and thought it would be a nice variation on the first one for those of you who like variety.

I have slowly started to get more into the shooting spirit here and hopefully you will see some more desktop activity from me here soon. Munich is treating me well for anyone wondering. I have been hard at work on my new web project that I will be announcing here soon I hope! I am also planing a bit or a refresh to the current design here.

Anywho, please respect the terms of use and to download these desktops just CLICK OR RIGHT CLICK HERE to download the attached zip file and enjoy!
