White Sands Pack

someday_the_waves_desktopsmaller.jpg

Here we have it, the elusive White Sands wallpaper pack. I have done my best to pick a nice well rounded selection of images for everyone to enjoy. The location of this beautiful spot is in southern New Mexico in a national park called White Sands. The park is simply a beautiful place to explore and offers a million or so different vantage points for great images. Even more interesting is the fact that over time the landscape changes so it could be different from year to year which offers photographers a truly dynamic space to work with. I also wanted to mention an interesting fact about the sands as quoted from wikipedia: ”Its white sands are not composed of quartz, unlike most desert sands, but of gypsum and calcium sulfate. Unlike other desert sands, it is cool to the touch, due to the high rate of evaporation of surface moisture and the fact that the sands reflect, rather than absorb, the sun’s rays.

YoungDoo and I arrived late in the afternoon about an hour before the sun set and we could not have asked for a more beautiful experience. We both left with countless images making it really difficult to choose between which ones to share. I hope that everyone finds something to enjoy. My favorite of the bunch is the one previously posted here on 50ft as a ‘One Shot’ post and I know there are a lot of you that have been waiting quite a while to get your hands on that as a desktop and I thank you for your patience.

I will do my best to add direct links to the images for those visiting on an iPad or an iPhone directly soon, feel free to nag me for that If it doesn’t show up here soon.

To see all of the images within the wallpaper pack (ten images in all!) as well as the download link to access them click through the read more link below:

A note to readers: PLEASE mind the terms of use and do not re-host these images anywhere else on the web. I really can’t understand the motivations of people who collect and in essence steal imagery from artists online to collect a quick buck in ad sales on ugly no name wallpaper sites. I encourage my visitors to steer clear of such sites and stick with smaller, independent sources for your wallpapers. There are a lot of artists out there sharing their work this way and it can be a much more rewarding experience to seek them out and support the art world, even in the subtle way of visiting the artists sites directly.

To download a zip containing the above image as well the images below simply CLICK OR RIGHT CLICK HERE to download the file which contains images at full desktop resolution as well as crops for the iPad and iPhone. The terms simply state that the images are for your own personal use only as desktop wallpaper imagery and other uses of these images without written permission is not tolerated. Never re-host full resolution images in other locations on the web or you could face a cease and desist order and/or legal action in which you will be held accountable for losses incurred due to the unauthorized distribution of the images shared on fiftyfootshadows.net. I hate seeming so strict but it really is pretty simple ;) I just want to be able to continue to share as much great imagery as I can. Spread the word, support original art online and most importantly, enjoy!

Really really great photos here! I just now discovered this site and I fell in love with your photography.. :)

Anyhow, I tried to download the zip archive related to your white sand pack but when I extracted I got the error above.
Could you please tell me if it’s my fault, or upload an updated archive?

    Many many thanks!

I ask that you refrain from using any images found on fiftyfootshadows.net to create physically printed material of any kind. This includes posters, photographic prints, fliers, etc. Under no circumstances may you make a physical reproduction without written permission.

These rules also apply for any artwork or imagery submitted and shown within this site which was created by an artist aside from myself. Any images submitted and shared as wallpapers are the property of the artist who created them and in the same manner as my images, you are asked to receive permission before using them in any way aside from their intended use. Any use of these images outside of for your own personal use as a desktop wallpaper image is prohibited without permission from the author of the image. Commercial licensing is available upon request. Please write with any inquiries.

When sharing images via your personal blogs I kindly ask that you link back directly to either the post the image was taken from or the base of the website at www.fiftyfootshadows.net and give a credit to www.fiftyfootshadows.net. Do not re-post full resolution desktop images anywhere without permission. If you would like to use an image for your blog background or something of the sort simply write to ask first. Support the artwork you admire! Also, it is greatly appreciated if you do NOT link directly to the zip files. This is more or less the same as re-posting them as it circumvents the tiny bit of support I ask of you which is to simply link back to the original post for others to enjoy the site.

It’s not fair to artists if you do not credit their work and link back to the original content creator. It is theft plain and simple and blogs that attempt to somehow be mysterious by not giving credit to the creators are simply hurting the artistic community as a whole. If you love it so much then please, support it! The artistic community on the Internet is based on trust. Without trust then what do we have? are you going to be one of the responsible users out there or will you be among the bottom feeders, stealing content and passing it off as your own to make a quick buck in ad sales.

Use your best judgement and we will get along just fine.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
